I am a freelance editor, podcast producer and arts journalist, based between London and Berlin. Having set out over 18 years ago to be a journalist, I’ve since enjoyed a wonderful career working around the world not only as a journalist but as a writer, magazine editor, arts comms consultant, copywriter, curator, audio producer, author, voice-over artist, columnist, mentor, educator and podcast presenter, as well as numerous combinations of all the above. Today I specialise in creating multimedia content for clients in the global cultural sector. I still write too, for various publications, across national and international media. Current and recent outlets include The Spectator (UK), UP Projects (UK), The Royal Commission of AlUla (Saudi Arabia), The Pendulum Podcast/Goethe-Zentrum Tirana (AL) and David Bowie: Albumtoalbum (UK). I’ve also been lucky enough to create / work on podcasts for Taschen (DE), The Art Newspaper (UK), Alserkal Avenue (UAE) The Guardian’s Today In Focus (UK) and Blain Southern gallery (UK), amongst others. And I also managed to get picked as a winner of a Radio 4 continuity announcer contest, by Eddie Mair on ‘PM’, a proud career highlight indeed.
My journalistic career has spanned roles in the UK, US, UAE and Germany. More details can be found throughout this site, but to give you an idea, after working on arts/style/indie magazines in East London in the early 2000s, I moved to Dubai in 2004 to become Arts Editor at Time Out Dubai, before launching Harper's Bazaar Art Arabia magazine in 2012, remaining Editor in Chief until 2015. During that period, I also worked with a number of Middle Eastern cultural institutions and galleries, including Art Dubai, the Dubai International Film Festival, Sharjah Biennale and others. Moving to Berlin, I retained my strong links to the region and expanded to cover arts and cultural stories in Germany for magazines, newspaper and private clients.
Most recently, I’ve been working on editing podcasts and contributing daily audio and written content for The Spectator in London. I also continue to occasionally contribute art journalism for The Art Newspaper, Artnet, Vanity Fair, Sotheby’s and Lux magazines. I’ve long been a passionate advocate of podcasting and firmly believe in the medium’s potential for storytelling and unique, immersive experiences. I’m a fluent interviewer and presenter and have also gained a great deal of hands-on experience editing, recording and mixing audio to broadcast standard.
During lockdown, I’ve been expanding my skill set to encompass online teaching and mentoring and currently I’m mentoring a podcast production workshops for artists at the Zeta Galeri/Goethe Institut (Albania) as well as teaching Curatorial practise to students at the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Tourism, on behalf of the NODE Center for Curatorial Studies (DE). Have a look at my site, and drop me a line if you’re looking for collaborations or content. I would love to hear from you!
